Description: For sale is a civil war era letter from Jeff Hunsaker to his brother M.J. Dated July 26, 1862, eight days after the raid. The main of the letter discusses the raid with the end family matters. Comes with original envelope. Transliteration last two photos. Very good. The Newburgh raid was notable for the Confederate Commander's use of dummy cannons to fool the forces protecting Newburgh, allowing the Confederate soldiers free reign to raid the town. It was also the first Northern town to be captured by the Confederates.
