ITEM DETAILS Title: The Rebellion Record: A Diary of American Events; with Documents, Narratives, Illustrative Incidents, Poetry, Etc.; with Fourteen Portraits on Steel, and Various Maps and DiagramsAuthor: Frank More (Edited By) Binding: Fine Half Leather BindingPublisher: D. Van Nostrand, New YorkPublication Date: 1868 Volume: Ninth Volume (XI) Edition: 1st Edition Condition: Good ITEM DESCRIPTION Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved volume of the Rebellion Record edited by Frank Moore! A great find from a local New England estate! This scarce antique volume is over 156 years old! See our other auctions for more volumes in this set! A rare volume to find in any condition! 1st edition. Contemporary half-calf bindings with marbled boards and marbled page edges. Ex-library. While this volume would certainly benefit from a fresh new binding, it remains quite serviceable as-is! The front board is detached as pictured; the spine is also mostly attached from the binding. The leather is very dry and has started to flake due to age and leaves a residue when placed on a white surface. Boards and spine show wear including rubbing and soiling, moderate wear to the joints, general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and light rubbing and soiling to the page edges. Otherwise sound! The gilt lettering to the spine displays nicely from the shelf. A well preserved antique volume overall! Internally this volume is in GOOD condition overall. Again, the front boards is fully detached from the binding, while the rear board is loosely attached. All page groupings remain securely attached to the binding, however. Note that this is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, the tile page and copyright page, and likely on a few pages throughout the text block. Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions. The text block itself is in GOOD shape as well. Very clean throughout! In general, pages show light toning typical of age, as well as some light soiling and foxing scattered throughout, and perhaps some instances of light edge wear. Otherwise this volume is very clean and perfectly readable throughout! Illustrated throughout with steel portrait engravings. All illustrations are present. Make sure to see the additional photos below for a thorough look through this volume. 759 pages with additional material including an index in back. Measures approximately 9 3/4 inches tall by 6 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches thick. A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
