Description: Cabinet card photograph of three dwarves, by Eisenmann of New York City, circa 1880s. The untitled view shows three little people posing together for their likeness in a photographic studio. All three were well known circus or side show performers. The woman is Lavinia Warren, who got her start with P.T. Barnum, and married General Tom Thumb in 1863. Her husband died in 1883, and Lavinia then married Count Primo Magri (aka, Count Rosebud) in 1885. He stands to Lavinia’s left in this photograph, her hand on his arm. His brother, Baron Magri (aka, Baron Littlefinger) stands to Lavinia’s right. She and her husband would settle in her native town of Middleborough, Massachusetts. This photograph likely dates to about the time of their wedding in 1885. Charles Eisenmann was a noted photographer of the 1880s who had a studio in the Bowery in New York City and made a specialty of making photographs of freaks and sideshow performers. The cabinet card is in good to very good condition with only light wear and soiling. The photograph exhibits good or better tonal range (a little light around the vignette edges) and shows good to very good detail. A great side show and circus related image!
