A single year type, the last Rupee had been struck for Alwar in 1882, it was also the last year they were struck. Alwar State was a Kingdom from 1770 until 1818 and a “Princely State” under British rule from 1818 until Indian statehood in 1947. It was founded by Pratap Singh (1740–1791), a Rajput of ancient lineage. It joined the British against the Mahrattas, and in 1803 signed a treaty with the British government. When this coin was struck it was ruled by Sawai Mangal Singh. Weight: 11.61 Grams, 31.5 Millimeters, .917 Silver. Mintage: 160,000. As a comparison, the famous 1909-S V.D.B.
