Description: Here's a .75" cello button from when Frank Lowden was one of the leading contenders for the republican presidential nomination in 1920. As Illinois governor, he went into the convention deadlocked with his main opponent, Leonard Wood. When neither one could pull off the nomination after many ballots, the "smoke-filled room," dark horse compromise, Warren Harding was chosen and pushed over the top. Lowden sat out things in 1924 and tried again for the nomination in 1928 but didn't stand much of a chance against Herbert Hoover's momentum. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. It may have light surface wear/scratches as found on most all older pinbacks. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence.
