One of just forty thousand original pieces, it was struck only in 1927 at Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg. These were made to celebrate the “450th Anniversary” of the “University of Tübingen” in Baden-Württemberg. The University was founded in 1477 by Count Eberhard V, later the first Duke of Württemberg. He was a reformer who established the school after becoming absorbed in the Renaissance revival of learning during his travels to Italy. Today, the “University of Tübingen” is one of eleven “German Excellence Universities”. It is known as a center for the study of plant biology, medicine, law, archeology, ancient cultures, philosophy, theology, religious studies, humanities, as well as more recently as a center of excellence for “Artificial Intelligence”. Weight: 25.00 Grams, 37 Millimeters, .500 Silver. Mintage: 40,000. As a comparison, the famous 1909-S V.D.B. Lincoln Cent had a mintage of 484,000 pieces. The Coin: A coin that got put away and stayed put. It has toned some and it has a few small marks but it never circulated and is still fully original.
