Recently, the Franklin Half was submitted to NGC for authentication and grading to reassure buyers what exactly they are getting. So to clear up any confusion, you will receive the NGC graded Franklin half dollar in the NGC holder and the remaining coins from the proof set in the original mint packaging. 1956 Proof Set Flat Pack (includes brown envelope). Includes the rare Type 1 Reverse Franklin half dollar. The Type 1 reverse is "moderately scarce", Franklin half dollar expert Rick Tomaska has been quoted as estimating that only about three percent of the 669,384 1956 proof Franklin half dollars issued had the Type 1 reverse, which would total approximately 20,100 pieces. The distinguishing characteristic between the Type 1 and Type 2 is that the Type 1 has 4 left wing feathers vs the Type 2 has 3 left wing feathers.
