The coin depicts the Aswan High Dam with the Nile flowing and the sun rising behind the structure and commemorates the fact that on May 15, 1964 the dam structure resulted in the diversion of the flow of the Nile River, a major historic feat. The coin is labeled (Al Gomhouriah al-Arabiah al-Mutahida) United Arab Republic as opposed to Arab Republic of Egypt. The coin was minted when Egypt and Syria where united into a confederation. It is KM-405 and weighs 5 grams of 0.72 silver. It measures approximately 24 mm in diameter. It has a reeded edge and retains quite a bit of luster. This coin is rather scarce with a low mintage of 500,000 pieces. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 1964 AD - 1384 AH. Mint: Egypt. Size and weight: This is a five piastres, weighs 2.5 grams of 72% silver and is ~18 mm in diameter. References: It is KM #405. Condition: I would grade this coin as a beautiful great looking lustrous uncirculated or better with all the details being very well preserved. It shows no wear but has a few minor scratches and bag marks. The coin has a reeded edge and has very nice eye appeal. The coin is much better than the photos suggest.
