Description: 1965 ORIGINAL Large Newspaper Sports Art -John Pierotti, New York Mets, Baseball. I’m guessing this original drawing is from around 1962 and 1965. Casey Stengel was managing the newly formed Mets from 1962 until his retirement half way through the season in 1965. Their record for that 4 year period was terrible. Out of 579 games the Mets won 175 and lost 404. They came in last (10th) place every year. This is a great piece of baseball history which shows the Mets mascot trying to fly toward “games won” but being pushed back by a strong headwind to “games lost”. The drawing has stains on it. Even with all its imperfections it would still look good behind glass and framed. It is a large drawing measuring 13.5 by 13.5 inches. On the back is stamped “New York Post 2 A.M.”. John Pierotti was a cartoonist that worked for the New York post and received multiple awards for his artwork.
