Description: For sale is an amazing 1966 SMS Lincoln Memorial Cent graded and certified by NGC as MS-67 RD, which is considered incredibly high for this coin! The "RD" stands for "Red" referring to the color of the coin--and its the highest designation a Cent can achieve. The original version of the Lincoln Memorial Cent was minted between 1958 and 2008 when it was replaced by the Bicentennial Cent, and then the current Shield Cent. "SMS" stands for "special mint set." The Mint did not mint proof sets 1965 to 1967 and instead minted Special Mint Sets which had highly polished MS coins, that sort of resembled proof coins, but weren't actually proof. These were considered SMS coins and are far more rare than the regular MS coins because they minted so few. And for them to achieve high MS-67 RD grades are also incredibly rare. As you can see from the pics the coin is in absolutely amazing condition. It has that gorgeous red highly polished finish you hope for in SMS coins. The coin has no toning at all and no major blemishes. I do have multiple coins available in the exact same condition and grade if you were interested in buying more than one. I always give discounts for multiple quantities and always combine shipping. If you buy only one you will receive the coin in the pics. This is an amazing coin to add to any Cent collection--or for anyone who just wants to own more gorgeous coins. Thanks!
