Description: This is a lovely antique set of 6 porcelain plates made in Limoges France by Theodore Haviland. They are about 6 & 1/2 inches in diameter and weigh about 5 ounces each. The decorator backstamp in red on top of the glaze is Theodore Haviland, Limoges France, with Theodore underlined, which was used starting in 1903. Also TH is impressed into the porcelain of the 5 of the 6 plates. The plates have an impressed scroll and rick-rack design in the porcelain and the decoration are small flowers in a dark pink to a creamy white, or light yellow. I think they would be considered wild roses because I can see thorns, the design is so detailed. There are pictures with a light shining through the porcelain so you can see the design impressed into the edges of the plates. These plates are considered side plates, where during fancy dinners, they would be used to hold a folded napkin, as a bread and butter plate, an hors d’oeurves plate, or for a small treat or desert. They would also have been used during tea time for a treat to go with an afternoon cup of tea. The plates are in excellent antique shape and I see no chips, cracks, stains or crazing. Two of the plates have a dark spot on the edge, that are either transfer marks or from firing in the kiln. They are the top two plates where the plates are stacked. There are none to very few faint utensil marks in the glaze when looking at an angle to the light. There is not much fading on the floral design. One of the plates is rough on the bottom unglazed rim in a couple of spots, probably from being put down to hard. It’s the bottom plate in picture #11. Please zoom in on the pictures and see the 360 degree view for a closer look. I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and sometimes on Saturdays if I can make it to the post office before they close at noon. Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking!!
