Description: A fine tall tall clock with 8-day movement by Concord NH clockmaker Abel Hutchins with a cherry case attributed to James Dinsmore, circa 1805, with a pierce carved crest with three brass finials surmounting an arched glass door flanked by two turned corner columns, opening to an arched dial paint decorated with flowers and scrollwork gilt spandrels, hand painted Arabic numerals with the clockmaker’s name “Abel Hutchins, Concord”. The cherry case features reeded corner columns and brass capitals, a waist door with delicate line inlay, opening to a large brass pendulum bob and two weights. The delicate inlay continues below each corner column, with a floral motif, indicative of Dinsmore’s work, accented by line inlay bordering the base. The inside of the waist door reveals the history of ownership of the clock inscribed as it was passed down. The clock is in very good working condition, with some yellowing of the dial from old varnish, great patina, other imperfections and light wear commensurate with age and use. Included are photos of a similar clock case by Dinsmore in a 1978 exhibition book published by the NH Historical Society. Dimensions: 87 ½” H x 21” W x 10 ½” D.
