ALAN KING - ANNOTATED CONTRACT MULTI-SIGNED 02/07/1961 - HFSID 262390 ALAN KING Comedian Alan King signed this contract in 1961 to appear as a guest artist on an episode of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall. He was paid $8,000 for his appearance. Annotated contract signed "Alan King" as Performer with his phone number and Social Security number and initialed "AK" twice, all in blue ink. Also signed and initialed twice by an assistant secretary of Roncom Productions, Inc., all in black ink. Pencil marks and notations in unknown hand. 2-page double-sided contract (1 sheet total) with 10 single-sided pages of riders, 8½x11, bound with 2 staples. Feb. 7, 1961. King signed this to appear as a guest artist on an hour-long episode of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, to be taped on April 21, 1961 and broadcast on April 26, 1961. He received $8,000 for his appearance. Comedian King (1927-2004, born Irwin Alan Kniberg in New York City) honed his material working in the Catskills and entertaining New Yorkers with his routine focusing on the frustrations of the middle-class American dealing with bloated, inefficient commercial and governmental institutions. King toured the U. S. and Great Britain with Judy Garland's variety show, including a command performance before Queen Elizabeth II. He published his first book of jokes in 1962 and continued appearing in various clubs and hotels. King appeared on Broadway in the late 1960s, then moved on to films in the 1980s and 1990s, including Author! Author! (1982), Enemies: A Love Story (1989), Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) and Casino (1995). Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Staple in top left corner of contract. Staple holes and light nicks along top edge. Staples are rusted. Otherwise in fine condition.
