Description: This is Door Knob #4, the last one, listed at $385 it has one doorknob and a heavy locking mechanism. it is a large, heavy lock so it is believed to be from either a front door or exterior back door to the Unit #2 area. It is likely to a main door either the front of Apt.#2, front entrance to the #2 side or the back entrance where Lee Harvey came into the building most frequently. On the back side and front side these doors had access to the two lower apartments and stairwell to the two upper apartments. The kitchen area was an important planning and meeting area for Lee Harvey Oswald. The kitchen had 3 doors, one to the bathroom, one to the dining room/library and 1 to the back door which opened into the hall doorway to the outside door!. The apartments were very efficient, you could open up the doors and connect the dining room (which Lee called his library) into the front living room/bedroom. You would never know the front living room was also a bedroom because it had a Murphy Bed - Such an efficient layout! ALOT of DOOR Knobs! This is the building where Lee Harvey Oswald ordered the gun that killed Officer Tippit after the tragic assassination of President Kennedy. All of these door knobs are from historic Unit #2 or the Unit #2 side of the building. 600 Elsbeth (formerly 602-604 Elsbeth) is in the Warren Commission. Mr. and Mrs. Tobias were the Building Managers in 1963, and the Warren Commission interviewed them extensively. Mr. Tobias drew a picture of the building for the Warren Commission.
