It`s by S.Fielding & Co Ltd and has the backstamp used by them between 1891 and 1913. In 1912 S.Fielding & Co were renamed `CROWN DEVON`. (Crown Devon became famous for their vellum blush ware range and also lusterware, and there`s a hint of that in this piece). This is a large, eye-catching cheese dish and is in remarkably good condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or restoration although the base plate is a little `stained` from 125-odd years of cheese(!), (as can be seen in the last photo), and there`s some minor, even, and to-be-expected very light crazing on the top part. It carries a pattern name of `Orchid`, (the flowers shown in the decoration), and a pattern number of 337. Dimensions: the base plate measures 10½ inches / 26.5cm., (which is `large`, about the diameter of a dinner plate), by 7½ inches / 19cm., and with the top in place it stands approx 6¾ inches / 17cm tall to the top of the handle.
