Description: This is a fascinating and well done Antique Old 1930s WPA Mexican Regionalism Cityscape Oil Painting on artist board, depicting a quaint Mexican cityscape scene. In the distance at the left edge of a painting, a lone woman holds a basket on her head and walks by a Catholic church. In the distance, blue hills and small buildings can be seen. To the right of the scene, two tough hombres in serapes and sombreros lean next to a building, and scowl at the viewer. a Small while puppy dog is seen basking in the sun near their feet. Signed with the initials "R.F." carved into the lower right corner of the frame. I could not figure out which artist created this piece, but perhaps you know more about the painter or their work? Approximately 21 1/2 x 27 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 18 x 24 inches. Good condition for age, with some light scuffing to the canvas, and some edge wear and waviness to the artist board and frame (please see photos.) Acquired in Southern Texas, United States.
