Description: Antique Polychrome Painted Bookends Dante & Beatrice Bronze Divine Comedy Antique Polychrome Painted Bookends Dante & Beatrice I don't' know many details about this lovely set of bookends other than what was shared with me.They were purchased by a husband and wife at an antique shop on the North Shore of Chicago at least a half century ago.Being that she was an artist and he a wood carver (both avid readers), it was the perfect purchase! These bookends must have good karma, the couple were married over 70 years! Perhaps they'd make a thoughtful wedding gift?The nitty gritty - Approximately 7" tall X 3" wide X 6.5" longVery heavy - not sure what material is under the paint. I believe they are made of bronze, but not 100% certain.Several areas of cracking and chipping of paint and an area of repair on Dante.That being said....they have a beautiful patina and radiate charm to one who loves The Divine Comedy.
