Description: These food domes are really difficult to find! I have a couple and love them! Not only are they grand and gorgeous but nice to keep the flies away outside and my kitten away inside! This one is pewter. It was made by the JAMES DIXON & SONS CO. in Sheffield England around 1835. It is in the melon shape. It is in very good shape especially considering that it is almost 200 years old! The end that has the hook to hang it on the wall from has some issues. I don’t know if the original hook came off and it had to be Re-soldered. I really don’t know. There is a tiny white spot on the side of it. You can see it in the first photo. I did not try to remove it. See photos. The handle still comes unscrewed which is nice for shipping and storage. The original engraved makers label is still legible and is numbered 399. I have shown it on an ironstone platter. It is just a prop. However, if you are interested, it fits quite nicely and I would sell it with the dome if you are interested. All measurements are included in the photos. I am happy to answer any questions BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. Please look closely at my photos and descriptions as I do NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. Thank you for your interest.
