Aureole 1940s Chronograph

Description: A nice '40s chronograph, good timekeeper, with a well-functioning Landeron movement. Left subdial shows constant seconds and right subdial totalizes the time period up to 30 minutes. The large main second hand starts, stops and resets to 12, but the 30 min dial returns to the 5 minute mark instead of zero. This minor problem can be easily corrected by a watchmaker who can move the tiny hand to the zero starting position. Scales on the outer edge of the dial compute speed in MPH, and there's also a telemetry scale.The rose gold-filled case is in good condition for its age and the plating has a few worn spots from typical wear. The silver dial wears its years well and has an elegant patina. The blued steel hands have lost their lume. The watch is mounted on an Italian pigskin band in good condition.NOTE: Operation is a bit unusual: the button opposite 1 o'clock starts the timing function. The button at 4 o'clock stops the timing sequence and a second press of the button resets the hands to end the timing sequence.
