Description: Enjoy this delicately crafted painting signed by the brilliant John Correll. Here he depicts a lone barn amongst gorgeous countryside scenery. A twisting flowing road leading up to the barn cuts through the golden grasses in the foreground. In the background we can see groups of trees taking on their autumn foliage. The reddening leaves take on a purple hue as they go further and further back. This is the handsome scenery that surrounds the comparatively understated barn. Its greenish gray paint job makes it seem almost at odds with its surrounding scenery. Perhaps this is hinting at a tension between manmade constructions and the natural world surrounding it? Impossible to say for sure now, especially since the artist behind this has long since passed. Regardless, it's clear that this painting contains more than meets the eye at first glance. It's rather impressive how much detail went into this work considering the small size of the board it was painted on. So much going into 4x5 inches. Note: if you purchase this piece the wooden frame will be included. The frame will require some modifications to keep the painting in place, but it fits the painting well. You might notice that we are selling this piece for a considerably higher price than our previous John Correll offerings. This is for multiple reasons. First of all, we are particularly fond of this piece. If you don't want to spend that much money to get it we're perfectly content to keep it. Considering how quickly our last Correll paintings got snapped up we likely undervalued them initially. Furthermore, you may notice some writing on the back of the frame. Among other things it reads: "4 x 5 $179." We do not know who wrote that. Was it John Correll? Was it D.C. Corwin who we believe previously had possession of this painting? Was it an entirely unidentified third party? Either way, we're not going to argue with it.
