The design is high detail, applied by using wax to block the white portion then dipping the entire mask in brown dye and later removing the wax to expose the white design. Very complex and time consuming method. The masks are large, approx 12 inches from top to bottom, 9 inches wide and the depth is 4 inches. Short and secure mounting loop in the center of the back side that can be easily added to in length, or used as is. The back is also batiked with sun designs. Very beautiful with very detailed high quality workmanship. Bulk purchase of this mask is possible upon inquiry. There is a bit of a back-story on these gorgeous batik masks...... Our friend in Bali who could easily be considered one of the most talented batik mask makers in the world took got a large order funded by a US government grant that was successfully filled. They reordered this mask in large quantity and then couldn't pay, either losing the grant or losing the ability to pay from the grant. He told us the story and offered to us the option to take the masks and pay him when they sold! We did and are holding only a minimal amount of the proceeds, the majority going to him.
