Description: For sale, an old BEAUTIFUL SPECIMEN, BRASS VARIETY, GENUINE OLD "WESTERN SALOON", BRASS SMALL VARIETY old "good for" style trade token which actually is "GOOD FOR) 5 (IN TRADE)" at a merchant business called "LAFAYETTE SALOON, 320 K ST." (old drinking establishment), which was located in old downtown SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.THERE ARE A COUPLE OF VARIETIES OF THE OLD "LAFAYETTE SALOON" TOKENS...RECENTLY SOLD THE LARGE VARIETY, OFFERED HERE IS THE SMALL VARIETY, USED IN THE 1900S (from same collection)...GREAT PATINA, BOTH SIDES SAME This is a great old WESTERN SALOON token. The historic town of Sacramento goes way back, and had prominent role in California Gold Rush, 1848 era and on, especially as a transportation hub for all the supplies needed by miners.THESE OLD California "SALOON" TOKENS JUST SEEM VERY TOUGH TO FIND TODAY, AND THIS IS A BEAUTY. Note that this token has street address of "320 K. STREET"...and seems like "K street" was where a lot of SALOONS were back in the day. (wonder what is located at this address today??)As a category, these old "WESTERN SALOON" tokens are very collectible today.
