Cannondale XS800 CAAD 3 Frame Fatty Headshok Fork 700c CX Cyclocross Rare Gravel

Description: Well here it is, one of the most amazing and forward thinking bicycles ever made by Cannondale. A front suspension, cantilever brake, 700c "gravel" bike from over 20 years ago!!! I've had quite a few of these but this is only the 2nd one I've ever owned in a non 56cm size. Being a 54cm this makes this quite a rare find and very desirable amongst Cannondale and retro cyclocross bike collectors and enthusiasts. The Super Black color scheme only made an appearance in the 2001 Cannondale catalog and also marked the last year the "XS800" model name would be used before switching to "Cyclocross Ultra" in 2002. Unlike the Silk Road Headshok models, the XS800 user cantilever brake mounts and supported wider off-road tires. Unlike the Silk Tour Headshok models the XS was lighter and leveraged a more traditional horizontal/non-sloping top tube for better high speed stability. With regards to this particular frame, it certainly shows signs of use, with many many little rock chips and small ding or two but no major damage. Headshok boot has been replaced and shock does compress and rebound, but as is typical with these forks, the lockout feature sadly does NOT work. One other area where excessive wear is observed is under the headset cups where it appears that someone removed the cups from the outside instead of inside and left tool marks. Cups are seated and bearings move freely but should be replaced if fork gets serviced. Accessories (seatpost clamp, Headshok lockout knob, Headshok stem, steerer seal, rear derailleur hanger, under bottom bracket cable router) currently on the frame are included.
