Newer gold frame. Painting was exhibited in1946 Carl M. Thorp was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 14, 1912. Thorp moved to California in 1928. He studied in San Diego at the State Teachers College and Academy of Fine Arts under Maurice Braun, Alfred Mitchell, and Otto Schneider. Following WWII he moved to San Francisco and had a studio-home at 2733 Lombard. His work includes views of San Francisco, landscapes, and marines.
