I Royal Small Arms Factory bayonet & scabbard. The British wanted to get rid of their spike bayonet after WWII. They went through a few variations. In 1947 they started producing these bayonets. Other versions of this bayonet were produced in Pakistan and South Africa. Approximately 366,902 bayonets were made between 1949-1956 and another 10,000 in 1962. We have a few of these and the photographs are a representation of what you will receive. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good Plus - Fine condition. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. The socket, elbow and blade are all securely attached. The socket and elbow have light finish loss along the leading edges. The spine, sides and fullers have light handling marks and scuffs, but no notable wear. The blade has no nicks or dings and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The blade is in the white. The left side socket is marked "NO9MK1" over a superimposed "ED" followed by a date. The elbow is marked "PF" along with the serial number over a broad arrow. The metal scabbard is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition. There are light handling marks, scrapes and light impact marks. The frog stud is securely attached. It retains its factory finish. The back side of the scabbard is marked "PF" over a serial number. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
