Danish German Solid Silver Table Serving Bright-cut Spoon POPPE 12 Dated 1804

Description: Danish German Solid Silver Table Serving Spoon POPPE 12 with Pin-pricked Monogram GWJ & Date 1804 Presented is a beautiful early Danish/German solid silver table serving spoon hallmarked POPPE and 12 for 12 loth or .750 fine silver. American standard sterling silver is .925 fine; so there is less silver in this alloy. This style was common in this period comes from the region south or north of the Danish/German border. This elegant spoon has a down-turned pointed end with and a raised point arch drop. The front handle has delicate bright-cut design all the way down the handle with a great wreathed cameo with a pin-pricked script monogram I believe to be GWJ & Date 1804. It has no dents or dings and only some fine scratches from gentle use and care. Its elegant design and an extremely useful item for almost any table setting. It is a great piece for the collector of fine antique silver. I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions.
