Description: GREECE - 2 euro commemorative coin 2019- 150th anniversary of the birth of Andreas Kalvos (uncirculated coin from roll) Andréas Kálvos, (1792-1869), is known as one of the most important modern Greek poets. Andréas Kálvos came from a reasonably prosperous family and went, at a young age, to study in Florence, Italy. Andréas Kálvos left Italy for France but spent most of his life in London. Andréas Kálvos had a unique way with poetry and used a language, the katharevousa, that could only be written by a select group of people. He combined different styles and made his own style. The structure of his work can be considered unique because nobody imitated his structural style. His works became known when Kostis Palamas came across his poems and made them known to the general public. To commemorate the fact that Andréas Kálvos died 150 years ago, Greece has decided to issue a 2 Euro coin with him as the subject. The coin shows Andréas Kálvos around the age of 65. His name is also displayed, on the left, in Greek. At the top left are the dates 1792-1869 and on the right side of the coin is the text 'Greece Democracy' in the Greek language.
