Description: KPM Berlin American Eagle & Shield Monogrammed JH Raised Gold 9 1/2 Inch Plate A Antique German porcelain plate. Decorated with a hand painted American eagle holding an olive branch and arrows above an an American shield. With raised gold leaves, beading, scrollwork, and flowers. Ivory and gold border. Monogrammed JH along the bottom. Marked on the bottom with the blue scepter mark and red KPM mark. Circa 1900. The JH monogram may possibly be for John Hay, who served as secretary of state, under the presidencies of Rutherford B. Hayes, William McKinley, and Theodore Roosevelt. The plates were acquired from the estate of a prominent Washington D.C. family. Has some wear to the gilding and a few losses to the gold beading, but otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 9 1/2 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. IX
