This classic British espionage strip ran in the London Evening Standard, and featured the title character as a sort of female James Bond. This daily is from the "Eve and Adam" storyline (the 43rd MB story arc), which ran from strip 4738 through strip 4837A (which were published from August 12, 1979 through January 4, 1980). Modesty and Willie Garvin have been stranded in a "paradise valley" without gear or clothes and left to fend for themselves. They become enmeshed in a race to find a downed satellite. Here, Professor Kumosi tries to de-escalate a tense situation between his allies (the good guys) and some mercenaries (the bad guys). His efforts go for naught as the mercenaries take a shoot first approach. This well designed and rendered daily captures Wright's illustrative (nearly photo-realistic) approach to strip art and his strong command of light and shadow. An excellent example of this classic action-adventure-espionage UK strip. BRL Condition: -The art is in excellent overall condition. Title and credit is original stat. Caption and 3/5 word balloons are paste-ups (they look to be original inking). Otherwise art has very minor age/handling wear. Pencil notes to reverse.
