( 1916 - 1970 ) Darling was an early advocate of land and water conservation and a strong voice through his work for the protection, and love, of all Nature. He is perhaps most famous for his illustrations for the Beverly Cleary Henry Huggins and Ramona series of children's books. He is also famous for illustrating Rachael Carson's " Silent Spring. This drawing is executed in graphite on drawing paper and depicts clambers on the beach with gulls flying around. Measures 9 in. by 11 3/4 in. Image is 6 1/4 in. by 10 in.
