Description: Original 1/6 tintype in half of a case showing two soldiers holding persimmon fruits in their hands... very strange, but research shows that the 100th Indiana Infantry, which became known as the 'Persimmon Regiment' .... while marching from Memphis to Vicksburg the regiment disregarded their role as rear guard and started picking persimmons from an orchard. They took so long harvesting the fruit that they were arrested as stragglers. Could this be two soldiers from that regiment? They are unidentified, so I can only speculate on this, but if the connection could be proven this could be an extremely rare image.The tintype is behind mat and cover glass and is in very good or better antique condition.
