Description: Post War Kay Archtop Model 8444 Project ….. includes DeArmond Pickup. Fine old Kay 17” archtop with DeArmond pickup. Vintage is 1947- 1951. My hunch is this guitar was logo’d Old Kraftsman because of the checkerboard binding on the top. The old girl is a good player. Fingerboard is pretty flat on the bass side with just a little relief on the treble side. Spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Non original bridge. Some tarnish on tailpiece. Finish has normal chips, dings for age. There is some gatored finish on the shoulders….. The project part is that the pickup needs repaired. The wire between pickup and volume control is broken. The guitar cord portion that attaches to the amp is missing. The other issue is the heel has pulled away from the body. The dovetail is tight, I’m assuming it’s probably age and wood shrinkage…. No case. Please look over the pictures carefully. Ask as many questions as you need. We sell our guitars “As Is”. We’ve sold hundreds that way because we respond to you the customer.
