Description: Postcard Trains Amtrak Coast Starlight Daylight Unposted Vintage THIS IS AN ORIGINAL COLOR POSTCARD OF AMTRAK NATIONAL TRAIN SYSTEM OF THE U.S.A. COAST STARLIGHT TRAINS. IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, NEVER MAILED, NO WRITING. FROM THE 1970'S Color paper postcard featuring the Coast Starlight/Daylight (Seattle-San Francisco/Oakland -Los Angeles) gliding alongside a body of water. This card is one of a set produced by Amtrak with various images of trains and interiors. The Coast Daylight/Starlight, which operated from 1971-1974, was one of the first trains to run almost the full length of the West Coast. EMD E9A locomotive #418 leads the train and wears the first Amtrak paint scheme introduced in 1972. Built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division, this locomotive was originally owned by Union Pacific Railroad but was turned over to Amtrak when it took over the nation's intercity passenger rail services. Postcards were often sold on board trains and in stations, or provided as a complimentary gift to sleeping car passengers. The image on this card was featured on the cover of the Agent's Edition of the national timetable issued on October 28, 1973. Approximate Size: 3.5" x 5.5" SCTPostcards
