Description: Up for sale is a 2 volume set published in 1861 entitled, "Proceedings of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs, Appointed by Law for the Extinguishment of Indian Titles in the State of New York,"This two volume set includes three hand colored / outlined maps that are replicas of those published in the late 1700s. Full titled of piece is "Proceedings of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs Appointed by Law for the Extinguishment of Indian Titles int he State of New York Published from the Original Manuscript in the Library of the Albany Institute with an Introduction by Franklin B Hough. Published in Albany by Joel Munsell 1861. This two volume set is in fair condition overall. Volume one both front and back boards are removed. Chipping to both spines which are only half present. Interior in better condition with browning and wear. In volume 1 three maps are entirely present but with damage and pieces present but separate from the rest of the maps as they were folded in the volume and have since been damaged. Maps Delicate. See photos. Former Library of Congress book with stems and also stamps saying duplicate and removed. Volume two both boards present but not attached. A few pages in front of both volumes, end pages mostly but also title page in one volume are present but free. Actual book pages in much better shape with wear, some pencil markings and browning. Buy no means a perfect set but this is a rare piece and everything seems present. I think Fair overall. I can not find a full index on this set but I believe most if not all maps are present. Three foldout and colored maps in Volume 1. None present in Volume two. Other illustrations, documents that were copied etc.. present in both. Again note condition. They seem to be complete with damage as discussed. Again 1861 edition. Books 7 x 9. Maps vary in size largest is approximately 18 x 30 inches. they are reproductions of late 18th century maps.
