Description: 55 cm c to top seat tube. Few pre-1945 René Herse bicycles survive at all, let alone in fully original condition like this beauty.I'm not sure of the exact date of this one, but it has the pre-1945 cranks and corresponding frame details. The bike must have been back to the workshop for an upgrade c. 1947, as the René Herse graphics are of this period, and the brakes are the post 1945 type. All other parts are from the original build, and of the highest quality : Maxi alloy hubsBeautiful large alloy rimsPossibly original tyresEarly style stem with the lovely alloy bolts.Alloy bars and brake levers.Brake cable housings Rene Herse cranks without fluting and the 4 dot dust cover.Le Chat FD and leverCyclo RD with the beautiful hand-made alloy lever. This lever appears on a tandem p 69 of Jan Heine's Rene Herse book. Probably designed by Navet, founder of TA. This part is ultra ultra rare.Mavic Inal large mudguards with beautiful blue line.Huret alloy wingnuts (one incorrect brass).Brooks saddle (period, but not original to this bike)Lighting possibly of the 1947 configuration.Correct rear carrier, and no front carrier, in the early tradition.Rene Herse rollers (1947)Original lightweight pedals. Frame in nice condition, paint distressed in places but original, braze-on for a light on the seat tube loose, Le Chat derailleur guide ovalized on the outside. Amazing RH from the early phase of Herse's career. Very crisp lugwork typical of this style. This was an absolutely incredibly modern bike for 1943/44/45, with all the equipment, frame details, alloy parts. Nowhere else in the world was anything like this being built. Nowhere close. 9000 USD or nearest reasonable offer.
