Description: ~ and now, the incomparable Smithsonian Magazine ~ Greetings, here we have a full year lot of year, 1979. If you would like to see close-up images of each issues' Contents page, or need to verify presence of a particular article, let me know. incl's the beloved September issue, featuring the Panda article cover story . . . Mother panda Juanjuan and baby Yuanjing in Beijing (Peking) -- this famous picture has been rendered into plastic figurines on sale in Chinese stores; photo by China Pictorial This lot is comprised of the following:JanuaryFebruaryMarchAprilMayJuneJuly AugustSeptemberOctoberNovember December set weight = 9 lb., 14 oz.range between of 128 - 200 pages, per issue When you subscribed to Smithsonian, you were not just obtaining a mere periodical, but you gained an actual membership in the Smithsonian Institution itself, as a citizen "Associate". This magazine was the brainchild of S. Dillon Ripley, the legendary longtime (1964-1984) Secretary of the Institution, and the co-founder/1st Editor was the renown Edward K. Thompson. The magazine's raison d'etre was basically everything under the sun . . . not about the Smithsonian really, but 'of the Smithsonian'. To wit: "...everything Americans are interested in, might be interested in, or ...ought to be interested in..." To this day, Smithsonian was recently ranked as 'America's Most Interesting Magazine'. Condition: Good to Very Nice/good, overall. Clean ---> NO writing or significant "damage" to note. Please review all photos and Condition box, above. Each issue is mostly uniformly aged/used. Sometimes there may be a stray sprinkle of age-foxing spots on the page ends of an issue, or some dots that go into a page from the outside edges. Below itemization are only issue-specific comments necessary:October has a small chip in the top edge spine material -- also, a 2" closed tear coming horizontally from the center/spine edge staple into front cover [See close-up]; this is reinforced from the inside of cover w/ archival paper mending tissue.July has a crease on the back cover, bottom LH corner. Shipping Comments:For these Smithsonian magazines in particular, I want to highlight that I am always happy to combine & reduce shipping. I have NO built-in handling/seller fees. I am shipping based on actual weight-to-destination. I am not a business, though, just an individual with some extras. For these late 1970's lots, I cannot ship at Media/book rate because there are plenty of advertisements, alas. ~ ~ ~ Please feel free to ask any questions, and I am happy to help. Combined shipping on multiple Smithsonian items is welcome! I also have more pictures of each item than the 12 eBay gives us space to show, so I can always provide more images upon your request. Thank you,
