Description: Spanish-American War Era US Army Leather McKeever Cartridge Box for .30-40 Krag Rifle - Dated 1908 - Converted to Cadet Style - Very NICE Condition Up for sale is a Spanish American War US Army Leather McKeever Cartridge Box for .30-40 Krag Rifle. The Leather is soft and supple. No cracks or crazing of the leather. Brass "71" unit number on the front. The brass #1 is loose, see photos. All seams are fully intact, no fraying. The canvas cartridge loops are in nice shape, not all torn up or stretched out. The box is marked: Rock Island Arsenal and dated 1908, with H.E.K. inspector initials. This cartridge box will hold 20 rounds of .30-40 Krag ammunition for the Krag Rifle and/or Carbine. The box is used, please see photo's for condition. This box has been converted to Cadet Style, by adding two brass buckles to the rear to accommodate use with a shoulder strap. See photos. Please see photos.
