Strategy & Tactics S&T #54 Westwall Dixie 2nd War Between the States Play Copy

Description: Strategy & Tactics #54 Westwall Issue Dixie The Second War between the States Dixie is a brigade/division/corps level simulation of an alternate-history conflict. Dixie posits that the Confederate States of America has successfully waged the first American Civil War (1860-1863) and survived as an independent political economic entity. The game further posits that these two independent countries wage a modern war during the late 1930's. Simply because the situation is posited, the gamer should not construe this to mean that a Confederate victory and subsequent evolution into true nationhood is considered to have been a "likely" possible outcome of the actual Civil War. In truth, such an outcome was very unlikely. Nevertheless, this should not inhibit us from simulating a Second War Between the States (or Americas) stemming from the Southern victory in the first war. Such a simulation is useful as an historical exorcize and as a means of examining a modern full-scale, conventional war taking place in the territory of the United States. The problems posed by such a broad-front war are very different from most of those encountered in the more typical European campaigns. The distances more closely resemble the East Front of World War Two, without the same scale of forces.
