Description: Please see photos to examine this book’s condition. This copy isn’t perfect but it’s still in good condition and a worthy piece for any military history buff’s library. The cover is in good shape and the binding is solid and all pages intact, aside from the deliberate cutting of the very first inside page by the university library that once owned this book. Incredible piece of World War I history. This book was published in 1917 and contains 7 beautiful fold-out maps of Europe and the battlefield from the epic First Battle Of the Marne. The book was a library copy at Notre Dame de Namur University in San Francisco. The first inside page is clipped and has a strip of tape, and also signature and a couple name plates from previous owners, including the western front Association, adding to the history of this beautiful book. There are 7 fold out maps, including a map showing the battle lines in color. I believe there might have been an 8th map in an envelope, as the map numbering goes from 1-6 and then to 8. No maps appear to have been torn out. Regardless, this book is a rare find and a fascinating look at this battle, written before the war had ended. The book shows signs of wear and age discoloration—about what one would expect for a 107-year-old text. There’s a small bit of writing on the spine with its library info, but it’s hardly intrusive.
