Description: This hardback book by Theodore Roosevelt, published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1923, is a fascinating piece of history. The 26th president of the United States is remembered for his expansive personality and grand sense of adventure. The letters written to the children over the courses of their lives reveal how deeply he loved his family. In the letters he treated the children as friends and equals and never spoke down to them. Some of the letters have charming little illustrations that show his sense of humor as well as his artistic abilities. Any child would be thrilled to have letters like these from a parent. Six pages in the table of contents show a wide range of topics in the letters - In the Spanish War, Presidential Nurse for Guinea Pigs, A White House Christmas, Japanese Wrestling, etc. The book measures 7 1/2" X 5 1/4". It is in reasonably good condition for a hundred-year-old book. Cover corners are slightly worn, and there is slight water damage. It appears that no pages are torn or missing, and there is no writing in the book. I didn't try to remove the sticker which was on the cover when I inherited it. See photos for a closer look. The book is from a smoke-free home.
