Vintage GUSTAVSBERG Sweden ARGENTA Wilhelm Kage Rare Ship Dish & Cup Lot

Description: Artistic Director of the Gustavsberg porcelain factory from 1917 to 1949, Wilhelm Kage developed new glazes and designs for over thirty different tableware series.In 1930, Kage exhibited his Argenta Series at the Stockholm Exhibition. This was his first successful foray in ceramics. The series, which included everything from ashtrays to urns, was glazed in red, brown and blue; but it was the pieces finished in a green glaze with silver adornments that really caught people's attention. The series epitomizes the style that became known as Swedish Grace and was produced until the 1970s.Dish or tray designed by Wilhelm Kage for Gustausberg of Sweden as a part of the highly desirable Argenta line. The dish features a sterling silver overlay pattern depicting a finely detailed galleon sailing ship on the classic mottled green glazed stoneware with sterling overlay rim. Measures approximately 3 ½" square. The bottom has the Gustausberg mark as well as "WASA 1628" and original sticker.Argenta cup with silver painted inlay by Wilhelm Käge Gustavsberg Sweden. Factory stamp "Gustavsberg Argenta made in Sweden 28". Approximately 2"×2".I have not cleaned this item aside from a light dust off. Light soiling, dust, old age toning, dents, paint loss could be present along with other minor wear consistent with age.
