Description: For your consideration is this beautiful three-horned ceramic vase in a creamy white shade, made in Czechoslovakia C. 1930's. It's a very nice size and able to hold liquid with no leaks, cracks, chips, etc. There is some minor loss of glazing on the three tips of the horns that touch a surface which is normal wear due to its vintage age. The three-pronged horn design is interesting and different as you'll see, two of the horn's interiors interflow whilst the third horn is its' own individual compartment. Czech is shorthand for the citizens of Czechoslovakia, a country that existed only a few mid-century decades. It exported a great deal of decorative glass and pottery in the 1920s and 1930s. Czecho-Slovakia (with a hyphen) was formed by international fiat at the end of the First World War out of adjacent areas; exporting was cut off when the Germans invaded the young Czechoslovakia just prior to the Second World War. The fine art and craft making that we now call vintage Czech ended abruptly. Even when the Communists took over from the Germans at the end of the Second World War, skilled workmen were required to make utilitarian items specified by the government. Authentic Czech art, glass, pottery and other exports was only made between 1919 and 1939.
