Description: For sale is this stencil print by the Japanese fine artist Yoshitoshi Mori. You can read about Mr. Mori on his Wikipedia page: "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshitoshi_Mori." As detailed there, Mr. Mori: "...was for many years a member of the mingei folk craft movement, and was close with Yanagi Sōetsu, founder of the movement, and Serizawa Keisuke, among others, producing stencil-dyed textiles and other textiles arts before turning to prints later in his career... [Yoshitoshi's] works generally depict scenes from the kabuki theatre, or subjects related to folk traditions and festivals." As you see in the pictures, this particular piece depicts a woodsman with an axe and it is a stencil print that Mr. Mori created in 1971. The piece is also signed and dated in pencil and features the artist's stamp. This particular illustration is 21 inches by 15 inches in the frame and 16 inches 12 inches without it.
